Insurance4dinghies proud to sponsor Bassweek Regatta

by Francesca Breeze 14 Aug 2012 15:35 BST 4-12 August 2012

In keeping with its philosophy to support the communities it insures, dinghy insurance provider insurance4dinghies was the main sponsor of Bassenthwaite Sailing Club's 2012 Regatta from 4 - 12 August.

Held on Bassenthwaite Lake in the Lake District, the Regatta is one of the country's biggest dinghy events. Open to nine separate fleets, including three handicap categories, it's anticipated over 330 sailors in 200 boats will take to the water during the week, competing for around 70 trophies and numerous prizes for all ages.

Over the years there's been a steady increase in participants and spectators to the event and so far more than 40 sailing clubs from across the UK have entered.

Insurance4dinghies managing director, Nigel Mills, comments: "We're keen to be more than just an insurance provider – it's about giving financial support at 'grass-roots' level and enabling Clubs and their members to flourish."

Already this year insurance4dinghies and its parent company Towergate Insurance - have sponsored the RS Tera Open Meetings and will continue to sponsor their events in September.

The firm also sponsors; the F18 Championships at Minnis Bay Sailing club and the Hurricane National Championships at Brightlingsea Sailing club, in August, the British Hobie Cat Nationals in Jersey in August, the Port of Dartmouth Sailing Regatta in August/September and the Scottish Champion of Champions at Largs Sailing Club, in October.

Last year, insurance4dinghies also gave a young dinghy sailor, Scott Wallis from Hampshire, £2000 in financial support.
