Spring Thaw Open Series at Bewl Valley Sailing Club - Week 2

by Richard Kingsnorth 11 Mar 2008 06:21 GMT 9 March 2008

With nearly sixty entries to date, including eleven visitors, who have joined club members for Bewl Valley’s inaugural Spring Thaw Open Series there was close competitive racing for each of the four races sailed on the second Sunday of the series.

With the force three wind blowing from the SSW, a windward leeward course was set for the Asymmetric fleet. Enterprises, Lasers, Solos and a handicap class sailed a straightforward triangle while Bewl’s thriving Flying 15s sailed a longer and more complex course allowing beats down two separate arms of the lake. Close tactical racing was enjoyed, particularly by the Asymmetric, Laser and Flying 15 fleets.
