In a new 'Marine Minute', the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) President, Frank Hugelmeyer, shares NMMA's take on the current state of the recreational boating industry, including a look at consumer behaviors and demand in 2023 and how that's shaping headwinds and opportunities the association is watching in 2024.

While new boat sales are expected to remain relatively flat in 2024, boating expenditures are likely to remain strong as the industry approaches spring and summer boating activity. With the surge in boat sales during the pandemic, it's expected Americans will continue to take to the water in large numbers this year given the unique social and wellness benefits boating delivers.

Ensuring water access, providing seamless support for boaters with educational resources, and timely service and maintenance, are core to the industry's continued focus on customer retention.

Meanwhile one company has recorded record breaking quarterly returns. Derecktor Shipyards proudly announces record-breaking quarterly revenues for its Dania Beach shipyard. Derecktor's unwavering commitment to excellence in marine services and customer satisfaction reflects consecutive quarters of exceptional performance.

Information technology software continues to assist businesses. DealersCircle, Inc. - the innovative, web-based manufacturing industry provider that conveniently links the manufacturer, dealer and customer together with its state-of-the-art software application - and Lightspeed - a leading Dealer Management Solution company with uniquely-tailored software solutions for dealers in recreational industries - are integrating their respective platforms to provide a more robust, all-inclusive solution for dealer networks in various industries.

More dealer assistance is provided by MDS. MDS Brand, industry-leader in boat builder and dealer technology solutions, announce the launch of its powerful, customizable web design services: MADIS AI content creation tool, integrated CallersIQ CRM software and ModelMixer Boat Configurator for boat builders. The ultimate partner in driving sales for dealers and builders alike, MDS provides a complete suite of tools that streamlines the entire sales process for a better customer experience.

The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) announced the start of the third annual "International Marine Service Technician Week" on Monday April 22nd. The event, which runs through to Friday April 26th, is dedicated to celebrating the exceptional skills and commitment of marine service professionals.

Expansions: LALIZAS is thrilled to announce the successful acquisition of Revere Survival, a US-based manufacturer & distributor of life rafts and other premium survival equipment for the recreational and commercial markets; a move that marks a significant milestone in the company's journey towards continued growth and expansion. #thelalizasforce has already developed a strong presence in the US market since 2018 with the acquisition of LALIZAS/ALEXANDER in Houston, TX & Houma, LA (former Alexander/Ryan Marine & Safety).

Partnerships: GOST® (Global Ocean Security Technologies), a world leader in marine security, tracking, monitoring and video surveillance systems, announced today a groundbreaking partnership with DuraBrite, a leader in high-reliability lighting solutions with a storied 50-year heritage in designing mission-critical power electronics. This collaboration was unveiled at the recent Palm Beach International Boat Show, marking a significant leap forward in the integration of cutting-edge lighting and security solutions for yachts.
