The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), in partnership with ITR Economics, has released the latest update to the U.S. Boat-Building Production Index, offering a refined outlook on the trajectory of boat production through 2027.

The April 2025 report shows that production continues to underperform expectations, prompting a downward revision to the forecast.

The NMMA has also released its 2024 Canadian Economic Factoids report offering a detailed look at national economic indicators from 2011 through 2024, now available as part of the annual Canadian Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract.

The U.S. consumer confidence showed modest signs of improvement in July, according to the latest report released this week by The Conference Board. The July Consumer Confidence Index® rose marginally, signalling a slight improvement in sentiment, but continued consumer caution, heading into the latter half of the summer. The Index increased by two points to 97.2, up from 95.2 in June.

This week, President Trump signed a sweeping Executive Order finalizing modifications to the reciprocal tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), first introduced on April 2. The new order resets tariff rates for dozens of countries and significantly reshapes the trade landscape for American manufacturers, including recreational marine businesses.

Also this week, the President announced additional plans to impose new tariff rates on imports from Brazil and semi-finished and derivative copper products. He also suspended the de minimis exemption for commercial shipments.

The Marine Retailers Association of the Americas (MRAA) has announced the theme of its annual Dealer Week Conference and Expo: "Prepare for What's Next." The event will take place at the Tampa Convention Center on December 7-10 in Florida, bringing together the marine industry's most forward-thinking dealers and solution providers.

In a first-of-its-kind effort across six states and two unincorporated territories, dozens of coastal communities will see a significant investment in removing more than 300 abandoned and derelict vessels (ADVs) from their local waters. With four-year project funding from the NOAA Marine Debris Program, administered through the BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water, the ADV grants will fund removal and education efforts in communities heavily impacted.

The International BoatBuilders' Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), North America's largest marine trade show and conference, announced that it has welcomed Kate Donadio to the role of Director of Marketing and Communications. With a sharp eye for strategy and engagement, she will lead efforts to grow IBEX's reach and elevate its marketing performance.
