Sun and good winds for the two races sailed today
On the second day of 19th Imperia Winter Regatta the weather conditions were much better than yesterday. Sunshine and good Easterly winds up to 12 knots allowed two races for all the classes; 420 (open and female), 470 (male and female), Laser Standard (male) and Laser Radial (male and female).
More than 400 sailors coming from 14 countries (Algeria, Austria, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Monaco, Netherlands, Slovenia, Switzerland, UK) had to wait for the wind ashore until the early afternoon, but after that time the race commmittee fired the start for the first race of the series.
Tomorrow is the final day with the start of the first race scheduled for 10.00am.
The racing at the 19th Imperia Winter Regatta is managed by an International Jury, officials coming from Austria-chairman Wolfgang Stenz, France-Founette Pauthier, Germany-Eric Michel, Greece-Marina Psichogiou, Israel-Nino Shmueli and Italy-Giorgio Fornaciari) while at see the Race Committee is managed by Italian officials Fabio Barrasso and Pierangelo Morelli.
Two races has been sailed for the 470 and Laser classes; the second one came to an end just before sunset.
In the 470 Olympic class, the leader of the fleet are Croatians Siviz Kosuta/Farneti who won both races. Second and third in the daily ranking are now two German teams, respectively Wagner / Scheufleur (2, 2) and Bigaki / Steinborn (4, 5).
The Italian team of De Giacomo / Cicala (4, 1) lead the female ranking.
In the Laser Standard class, Italian Giacomo Bottoli is now in the lead (2, 3) followed by Hungarian Berecz (1, 8) in second and Italian De Paoli (10, 1) third.
The leader of the Laser Radial is Hungarian Bakoczy with two firsts.
In the 420 class three races has been sailed, even if the first one had to be cancelled because the fleet did not finish within the time limit.
The Italian team Maccari / Vitali won both the races, taking the lead in the male category, while in the women's fleet the leaders are the Italians Wetzl / Paraldori.
