19th Imperia Winter Regatta at Yacht Club Imperia - Day 1

Rough seas and strong southwesterly wind

The 19th Imperia Winter Regatta began with very demanding weather conditions. The event is held in Oneglia Harbour with the organization of Yacht Club Imperia.

More than 400 sailors coming from 14 countries (Algeria, Austria, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Monaco, Netherlands, Slovenia, Switzerland, UK ) could not leave the harbour due to rough seas and winds up to 20 knots. The programm has been postponed to tomorrow morning with the first start at 10.00am.

The opening ceremony was been held in the afternoon at 5.00pm at the headquarters in Oneglia Harbour.

Races of 19th Imperia Winter Regatta are managed by an International Jury (officials coming from Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Israel and Italy) while at sea the Race Committe will be managed by Italian officials.

The IWR is an ISAF Grade 3 event. All information (live races, results and photos during the event) are posted on www.i-w-r.com
