Loch Ness Monster Race - Nessie makes amends

Perhaps it was recovering from a '30 knot afternoon', the impending darkness, or simply the effect of the mythical creature after the Marine Design International Loch Ness Monster Race, but the prize-giving saw the worthy second-placed catamaran miss out on the goodies and applause.

This has been previously rectified in the results that have been posted, but this week Pete Jary and Tim Roden, sailing Tornado 402 will receive their individually hand-crafted Nessie statues, perched on a rock from the Dores beach on the shores of the Loch. The statues are made by Steve Feltham, long time Nessie researcher and resident in his research van on the shores of the Loch. There is unlikely to be a better representation of the elusive monster, and each statue is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity!

Again, our apologies to Pete & Tim.

There has been a huge level of interest in the 2009 version of this Race. Catamaran sailors from all over Europe have put themselves on the mailing list for information, and early plans and schemes are afoot to make the third edition bigger and better.

Hope you can join us! If you want to be kept abreast of plans for 2009, send an email to
