50 boats...
50 miles...
1 monster.

Over 40 high performance catamarans from all over the UK have now registered for what is shaping up to be the UK's best attended long distance catamaran race of 2007.

A true all-comers challenge, the fleet ranges from a group of single handed Dart 18's sporting spinnakers to the behemoth Basilica, the Extreme 40. The startline, spreading the full width of the 25 mile long Loch will sport Spitfires, A Class, Tornados, Darts, Hobie 18s, Stealths, Hurricanes, the Tek Kat and Formula 28, plus a few others.

The event and its unique venue has caught the imaginiation of catamaran sailors everywhere, and Andy MacPherson, Australian Tornado Champion, fresh from the Archipelago Raid is making the journey North to sample the Scottish hospitality.

Sponsors Marine Design International have helped to make this event happen again, and assist in making it bigger and better than before. With the further assistance of jjcats.biz and Blaser Chiropractic in Glasgow also supporting the event, it promisies to be a race to remember.

Fed up of the usual glassware in your trophy cabinet? Nessie is providing a £500 cash prize for the winner, and has commissioned some unique Nessie statues, made by the Loch's only full time resident Nessie-hunter, Steve Feltham, living year on year in an old bus, hoping to glimpse the mythical beast.

If you want to join the fun, and take the number of boats into the fifties, please contact race organisers at or phone on 07961 898443.

Redress will be given to any sailor whose race is hampered by Nessie (verifiable physical or photographic evidence must be provided).
