Demand high for tickets to British Nautical Awards 2001

by MHL 22 Nov 2001 11:21 GMT

Tickets for the British Nautical Awards 2001 are disappearing fast in the prelude to the Awards shortlist announcement to be made on the 27th November 2001. With such a successful year for the British marine industry, demand for tickets to the event, the Oscars of the boating industry, is higher than ever.

Recently announced improvements to the event - most notably, moving the event to the Royal Lancaster Hotel, specifically designed to host live, high profile events - have proven popular with guests returning for another year, as well as new guests who have never before attended the BNA. Nearly 1000 people will attend this special black tie ball, including candidates shortlisted for Awards, a who's who of the boating industry, and high profile personalities and companies.

Jackie Phillipson, BNA Chief Executive commented, "We have sold considerably more tickets than this time last year, which makes it even more important to reserve tickets soon. In particular, anyone planning to make a group booking should get in touch as soon as possible to ensure that their group can be seated together."

In addition to offering an array of entertainment on the night, tickets include a champagne reception, a cordon bleu dinner and of course, final results of the British Nautical Awards, kept secret until the evening's host calls each winner to the stage.

The shortlist announcement will include a maximum of three nominees for each category, and will be made early next week, to reveal the best in British Boating in the following categories:

  • YJA Yachtsman of the Year
  • MDL YJA Young Sailor of the Year
  • Challenge Business Offshore Yachtsman of the Year
  • WS Atkins Inshore Yachtsman of the Year
  • Peters Plc Power Yachtsman of the Year
  • Motor Boat & Yachting Motorboat of the Year
  • Yachting World Sailboat of the Year
  • Honda Environmental Award
  • Sunseeker Endeavour Award
  • Sealine Media Award
  • Marine Product of the Year

Tickets to the Awards cost £125 including VAT and can be reserved at the BNA Ticket Desk, BMIF, Marina House, Meadlake Place, Thorpe Lea Road, Egham, Surrey TW20 8BF, Tel: 01784 223602; Fax 01784 439678; Email: carolt@bmif.co.uk.
