Dell Quay Sailing Club 2026 Regatta

If that well known lager did sailing regattas...

What a day we had - superb 10-15 knot SW breeze, not a cloud in the sky, super warm temperatures and as stated by many other sailors over the years, the best Regatta tea in the harbour - perfect!

With three club starts and two from our friends down stream at Itchenor Sailing Club where they set off their impressive Solent Sunbeams and X Boats to race to our line we welcomed 59 boats and their crews to the club for a perfect days sailing.

With racing under way the Fast Handicap lead off into a solid breeze with the now super competitive and growing fleet of twelve Solos in their wake for a long beat up to the head of 'Itchenor Reach' before an exciting reach and a fun leeward leg return all the while ensuring the strong tide was taken into account.

With such a long beat, the tide and some great shifts, there was plenty of work to be done by all crews. One of our Solo sailors recorded over 60 tacks across the two laps!

The sailing really was stellar and it wasn't just the adults that had all the fun - whilst the Solo's and Fast Handicap fleets sailed south of the club line, our Juniors and some slightly slower handicap adult sailors had their own fun racing north of the club line.

The breeze in this part the harbour is not quite so consistent and gusty, the juniors did very well indeed, including some breakages which along with the super helpful beach team managed to get the kids patched up and sent out again to continue the racing - great sportsmanship and 'work ethic' by the kids!

The Slow handicaps had a lovely time and some solid racing taking place meanwhile the Itchenor sailors in their Solent Sunbeams and X boats made for a wonderful site coming up the harbour and finishing on the club line. Always so special to see them!

After a lot of fun and to be frank, hard work on the water, everyone enjoyed a splendid Regatta Tea which has become synonymous with Dell Quay over the years - if you've never experienced it, why not come and join us for 2027!

You could at the very least give us a follow on our social media platforms (Instagram and Facebook) to see what we can offer as a club, it's not just about sailing these days either...
