Musto, the world's leading performance brand, has signed Tom Laperche, French skipper of SVR-LAZARTIGUE, to join the ranks of #TeamMusto.
- Tom Laperche, the rising star of the offshore multihull sailing world joins #TeamMusto as its latest ambassador signing.
- The skipper of SVR-LAZARTIGUE joins some of the biggest names in the sport kitted out by Musto - the world's leading technical clothing brand.
- Laperche and his co-skipper for the Transat Café L'OR will be wearing Musto's high-performance LPX and MPX kit.
The rising star of offshore multihull sailing will be kitted out in Musto kit as he takes on some of the most iconic races in the pro offshore sailing world, onboard the 32-meter long trimaran. Laperche, his co-skipper, and his technical shore team will be kitted out in Musto's high-performance offshore HPX, MPX, and LPX technical clothing.
At just 28 years old, Laperche already boasts an impressive track record. Winner of the Solitaire du Figaro in 2022, the Morbihan native won this year's Rolex Fastnet Race in a record-time, and the 24H ULTIM challenge, as well as finishing second in the Transat Jacques Vabre Normandie Le Havre alongside François Gabart in both 2021 and 2023. In 2024, he took on the Arkea ULTIM Challenge Brest solo race around the world, which he was forced to retire from after his daggerboard was damaged in the South Atlantic.
"Tom Laperche is establishing himself as a leading name in the sport of offshore sailing and his pursuit of innovation and excellence in sailing is well-aligned with Musto's," said Nick Houchin, Musto's Marketing Director. "Performance has been part of our brand's DNA since it was founded by Keith Musto in 1964. We have always worked closely with the best sailors in the offshore and dinghy racing worlds to develop the most high-performing technical gear for every sailor - and Tom's signing to #TeamMusto continues this path."
Musto is already a partner to top French and international offshore racers including Charlie Dalin (MACIF Santé Prévoyance), winner of the last Vendée Globe; Armel Le Cléac'h, skipper of the Maxi Banque Populaire XI; and British sailor Sam Davies (Initiatives-Cœur), to name just a few.
"Musto is a well-known brand in the sailing world for its great technical clothing. When you start sailing, you know Musto makes great foul weather gear! I'm excited to discover more of their products," says Tom Laperche.
"It was important to choose a brand that makes both offshore foul-weather gear and onshore technical clothing to kit out a professional sports team like the SVR-LAZARTIGUE trimaran crew. Musto met that requirement very well as their product range is diverse with a great selection of jackets, base layers, and other technical gear. On ULTIM-class boats, we're less exposed to water and spray than on smaller boats or monohulls, but the physical effort is much greater, so we need very lightweight and breathable clothing."
"For the technical team, it was also crucial to have warm, dry, well-fitting, and light clothing, essential for working on RIBs, climbing the mast, or doing repairs on the dock. So as a team as a whole, we're very happy about this new partnership!" he adds.
This year, as the successor to François Gabart at the helm of the blue maxi trimaran, Laperche will take on the Transat Café L'OR Le Havre Normandie with Franck Cammas starting on 26 October.
