The ISO fleet have a blast at Oxford © Bob Ladell
The first event of the season was a blast! Full on strong shifty conditions peaking in 30 knot gusts greeted the ISO, Buzz and Xenon fleets at Oxford SC.
First blood went to 1184, Neil Pryde followed up by 553, Team Lewis - just taking 2nd away from 814, Cousin Trestec. Race 2 and Cousin Trestec took the lead on the first beat, pitch polled into last place by a huge gust, recovering to a respectable 5th ahead of the National Champs. The excitement continued in the heavy conditions with Howlett / Newport finishing a well sailed 3rd. ( Did we mention we’re 3rd ? ).
Sunday started with a sunny F3, Team Lewis taking 1st from Neil Pryde, keen tactics between Team Walker/Sexton, Wet‘nWindy and Cousin Trestec. Wells and Lewis held the lead in Race 5 with Cousin Trestec coming through to take 3rd in dropping conditions.
Last race and Cousin Trestec took a commanding half leg lead up the first beat. Wet‘nWindy squeezed through at the next windward mark with conditions that built back up to the full on blasting of Saturday, Cousin Trestec settling for 2nd, leaving the National Champs, Walker/Sexton, in 3rd.
Thanks to all at Oxford.
