Event: RYA 'Push The Boat Out' Open Day
21 May 2017
Open to these classes: All welcome
The St Edmundsbury Sailing & Canoeing Association (SESCA) will be holding a Club Open Day at Lackford Lake, five miles NW of Bury St Edmunds, on Sunday, 21 May from 10.30 am- 4 pm.
The event forms part of the RYA’s (Royal Yachting Association) ‘Push the Boat Out’ initiative to encourage everyone to get out on the water and celebrate a national week of sailing.
SESCA is a small, family orientated club which runs on-water events from the last weekend in March until early November. The Club organises dinghy racing on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays and Thursday evening pursuit races throughout the summer. The Club also runs RYA sailing courses and coaching sessions for members. A fleet of Club boats is available for hire to members, so it is not necessary to own your own boat if you want to sail. Junior membership (11-17) is £25 pa; adult £62 pa and family £72 pa.
The Club hosts a number of other sailing organisations including the Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Mildenhall Sea Cadets; YPA (Young People Afloat); WASH Sailability; Suffolk Scouts; Culford and Priory Schools.
Whether you are interested in dinghy sailing (pottering or racing), canoeing, windsurfing or just like the great outdoors, you are most welcome to visit the Club to see what we have to offer
