After a successful day of racing on Saturday, the Race Management hoped for another day full of races on Aarhus Bay as the 2026 ILCA 6 Youth World Championships continued on Sunday.
Both Delta flags were up by 10.00, allowing the sailors to head straight onto the water. The wind came from the west ranging everywhere from 8-25 knots.
For Germany's Johanna Jacobs, the strong wind was a welcome challenge, but shifty conditions require full focus.
"It was really tricky and very shifty, so you had to keep adapting. I had a difficult first day, but yesterday and today went much better. I felt like I was able to read the conditions and adjust well. I definitely prefer it when there is a little more wind," she said.
With several races packed into each day, the sailors get to spend a lot of time between starts, for Jacobs it's important to spend that time wisely.
"Between races, I make sure I eat enough and try to think ahead about where I want to start and how I want to sail the next race. Then I look at how the conditions have changed and talk to my coach about that," she said.
With Sunday's racing completed, the men and women have both sailed 6 races.
At 18.00, the sailors gathered for the official Sailors' Dinner, where they were served nice food and spent the evening socialising across nations, sharing stories and experiences from the water. The dinner also included gifts from Helly Hansen, adding to a relaxed and festive atmosphere as sailors from all fleets came together off the water before racing continued on Monday.
In the ILCA 6 Youth Women's fleet, Hermionie Ghicas leads with 5 points, followed by Sienna Wright from Ireland with 8 points and Chloe Turner from New Zealand with 22 points.
In the ILCA 6 Youth Men's fleet, Lorenzo Ghirotti from Italy leads with 9 points, ahead of Toma Smircic from Croatia with 10 points and Ali Özdemir from Turkey with 11 points.
