The second Friday Series concluded, seeing 24 boats on the water racing in YTC and IRC in the gorgeous waters of Plymouth Sound. Whilst the weather was mostly light to middling, the fleets were lucky to not lose any races to the conditions, meaning a six race series with one discard encouraged consistency!

The YTC's in the end were the closest overall, with four boats going into the final race in a position to win.

In the end, the Squib of John Lewis Bootneck won the final race, ensuring victory, with the Impala 28 of Roger Stanbury having to settle for second discarding their last race seventh. A third place in race 6 for Chris & Ian Cload's Calpyso finished off the podium.

Special mention to David Clewer's Amatol, which has worked up the ranks to achieve two second places in this series; a promising improvement!

In the IRC fleet the single discard hurt many of the fleet with other events in their annual campaigns. There were PYC boats doing multiple additional events including circuit events, national championships, Kiel week and the PASAB, which meant turning up every week was half the battle.

In the end, a consistent five of six races on the podium nailed the win for Ann & Keith Whitfield's J/92S Tilted, 5 points ahead of Dominic Hanley's Stitch, and the newly launched, long-awaited return of Robbie Boalch in his Cork 1720 Crescendo, who was pushed to third on countback.

Some promising results from Stig McDonald's Melges 24 Haku, as well as the return of another Cork 1720 in IRC, and an MGC/27 later in the year suggest that the upcoming third Series will be the most competitive yet!
