ILCA 4 Youth World Championship 2026 in Aarhus - Day 5

After several days of strong winds and disrupted racing, conditions were milder on Aarhus Bay as the Final Series got underway at the 2026 ILCA 4 Youth World Championships.
Three races were scheduled for each fleet on Saturday, and all three were completed. The wind was lighter than yesterday, with wind shifting between south and southwest and varying between 5-12 knots.
Despite the milder conditions, the racing was far from straightforward, according to sailor Leo Gosling from Switzerland, who leads the boys’ fleet going into the final day.
“Today was a really tricky day, it was super shifty, gusty and pretty inconsistent wind, but I’m really happy with how I sailed today. I’m proud of my performance,” he said. “I was happy to get three races today after we’ve spent so much time waiting on the water yesterday,” he added.
With just one day of racing left, it can be difficult not to think about the final score.
“I’m trying my best to stay in the moment and stay focused, but of course you end up thinking about the result, it’s impossible not to,” he said. “I just want to stay consistent and take it one race at a time.”
Course Race Officer Christian Lerche also described the changing conditions, but remained positive about the outcome.
“We had a fantastic day on the water and managed to complete three races on the ALFA course. There were a number of restarts and some short postponements because of the wind shifts, but overall the day went very well,” he said.
The BRAVO course also completed all their races.
In the ILCA 4 Girls fleet, Eleni Triantou from Greece leads with 39, followed by Cassandra Jansch from Germany on 48 and Chloe Grayton from Great Britain on 71.
In the ILCA 4 Boys fleet, Leo Gosling from Switzerland leads with 14 points, ahead of Alexander Montagu from USA on 35 and Enrico Morina from Italy on 37.
With three races completed on Saturday, just one day of racing remains at the 2026 ILCA 4 Youth World Championships. Three races are scheduled for Sunday, starting at 11.00.
