Nacra 15 World Championship 2026 at Plymouth, UK - Day 3

by Plym Yacht Club 31 Jul 20:05 BST 26 July - 1 August 2026

As the racing at the 2026 Nacra 15 Worlds reached its midway point, everyone was optimistic to get back on track with the schedule, and a promising north westerly ashore seemed perfect to achieve that. The fleet efficiently launched under the diligent beach team, and headed out to the racetrack, once again south of Plymouth breakwater.

By now, the single figure results are generally only in the top twenty, with the mainland European teams exerting their power at the top, however credit must go to the American team of Dylan Tomko & Casey Small bucking the trend in fourth place.

Of the five races today, only one result outside of the top three extends the lead of Mattia Di Martino and Nina Cittar, whilst Alessandro Vargiu and Noa Lisci suffered a setback with a black flag in race 10, along with much of the rest of the fleet.

Ashore, the teams headed to the protest room for a long night of protests, whilst the support boats headed to the bar!

Nacra staff worked well into the night to repair the damaged boats, hoping to get them back on the water for another five races tomorrow, and the teams debriefed with their coaches, trying to make sense of the wind fluctuating between gradient and sea breezes.

Five more planned tomorrow as we reach the sharp end of the regatta, all to play for at the top!
