Royal Vancouver Yacht Club to host Sail Canada 2026 Sail West Championships this weekend

Over 135 sailors will be in action this weekend, June 20-21, at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, as they will take part in Sail Canada 2026 Sail West Championships.

The competition will be held during the "Waves Regatta". Competitors will be in action in the 29er, Club 420, ILCA 4, ILCA 6, ILCA 7, RS Feva and Optimist classes.

Training clinic to start the weekend

Sail Canada Sail West Championships will start with a training clinic on Friday, June 19, from 9am to 5pm.

This day will start at 9am with Sail Canada Olympic Development Coach, Kyle Martin, and special guests including Canadian Sailing Team member Victoria Coady. A Rule 42 session open to all participants will follow at 4:30pm. Participants can still register here.

Races for Sail West will be held according to the following schedule:

  • Saturday, June 20: races are scheduled to start at 11:30am
  • Sunday, June 23: races are scheduled to start at 11 am

Sail Canada Sail West event is part of a series of seven Sail Canada National and Regional Championships to be held this summer. These competitions provide a chance for sailors to train and compete with high-level sailors in their region, in addition to serving as talent identification opportunities for regional and provincial sailing teams, as development and mentoring opportunities for coaches, as well as training and development opportunities for officials and volunteers.
