With just under 50 days remaining until the Canada Sail Grand Prix | Halifax, the NorthStar SailGP Team is eagerly anticipating the opportunity to compete in front of Canadian fans and race in home waters for one of the marquee events of the 2026 Rolex SailGP Championship.
The event promises world-class racing, high-speed action, and a spectacular waterfront atmosphere in both Halifax and Dartmouth as SailGP's international fleet returns to Canada. The NorthStar SailGP Team is encouraging fans from across the region and beyond to come experience the excitement firsthand and support the Canadian team on home soil.
"We cannot wait to race in Halifax," said Phil Kennard, CEO and Team Principal of the NorthStar SailGP Team. "Competing in front of Canadian fans and showcasing SailGP in one of the world's great harbour cities is incredibly special for our team. The energy and support we feel racing in Canada gives us an extra level of motivation, and we're looking forward to putting on a great show for everyone coming out to watch."
As part of the lead-up to race weekend, fans will also have an opportunity to meet members of the NorthStar SailGP Team during a public team appearance on the Halifax Waterfront on Wednesday, June 17 from 4:30-6:00 PM. The NorthStar athletes will be taking part in a fun race in small Optimist dinghies, competing against the female and male Canadian Optimist North American champions, from 4:30-5:30 PM, followed by a poster signing in front of the Bluenose II on the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic dock. The team Meet & Greet is just one of the many initiatives that are part of FOIL4ALL taking place from 13-21 June on the Halifax waterfront. Fans are encouraged to come down to the waterfront and catch the action ahead of the weekend's racing.
The Canada Sail Grand Prix | Halifax will bring together the sport's top national teams competing aboard identical F50 catamarans capable of speeds approaching 100 km/hr, delivering close, adrenaline-fueled racing directly in front of spectators along the waterfront.
