SailGP: Canadian team reveal new name and mission

Today marks a new era for the Canadian team competing in SailGP with the unveiling of a new name, the NorthStar SailGP Team.

Inspired by Canada’s northern spirit and dedication to excellence, the NorthStar SailGP Team is steadfast in its mission to elevate performance on the water and promote a healthy lifestyle centered on active living and well-being.

The NorthStar SailGP Team is committed to achieving success that extends beyond the racecourse, with its mantra WE CAN INSPIRE. With a focus on building a culture that prioritizes mental and physical wellness, the team aims to inspire others to reach their potential both in sports and in life. The North Star, a symbol of guidance and resilience, reflects the team’s unwavering commitment to its goals and values as they compete among the best of the best in SailGP when racing commences in Dubai on 23 November.

Phil Kennard, Team Principal and CEO of the NorthStar SailGP Team, shared his excitement about the new identity: “NorthStar SailGP Team embodies our drive to compete fiercely while staying true to our values. This new name speaks to our Canadian roots and our desire to be a guiding light in both sport and wellness. We want to set a powerful example that performance and purpose go hand in hand, inspiring fans and athletes to live fully and actively.”

As the NorthStar SailGP Team, the athletes remain focused on their ultimate goal: delivering top-tier performances in every race, while serving as champions of health, wellbeing and positive change. The team will continue to inspire fans across Canada and around the world by showcasing the strength that comes from a foundation of healthy, active living and resilience.
