Junior sailors at Overy Staithe SC sailed for the Laflin Trophies on Monday 28 July. These trophies are awarded in 2 categories, under 17 and under 14, and there was eager anticipation from the assembled sailors as they waited to go afloat.

A mix of Lasers and Toppers made up the 2 fleets, who sailed a course from the club line out into the harbour and back. Lots of questions at the briefing, given by Race Officer Bernard Clark, including 'will there by honks' and 'which mark is G' and 'did he say B then C or C then B'.

Bernard, together with Sarah Bethell-Jones made sure there were the required 'honks' and Nina Plumbe and Colin Hargreaves (the safety team) led the fleet round the course for the first lap to ensure the right marks were sailed in the right order. There were plenty of family supporters watching from the sea wall, willing the fleet on.

The Under 17's was won by Sam Worsley (Laser) and the Under 14's by James Lamont (Topper).

Overall Results:

Under 17
1st Laser Radial, Sam Worsley
2nd Laser Radial, Camilla Haines & Amber Dunstone

Under 14
1st Topper, James Lamont
2nd Laser Radial, Harry Haines & Frank Dunstone
3rd Topper, Sam Lamont
4th Topper, Fred Worsley
