The second Classic Yacht Challenge Series (CYCS) event of the 2025 season gets under way on Friday, July 11 with the Vineyard Cup organized by Sail Martha's Vineyard (SailMV).

With over 30 sailing vessels registered, the weekend regatta will feature stunning classics racing around the beautiful island of Martha's Vineyard.

"Last year we welcomed the Vineyard Cup to the CYCS circuit," said CYOA Chair Timmy Dittrich. "This regatta has become a valued addition to our summer lineup of gorgeous sailing in the Northeast."

"The Vineyard Cup was started to provide Vineyard Haven and the island as a whole with a large boat regatta in the summer," said race organizer Andrew Nutton. "The other aim was to make the event a fundraiser for SailMV to support its ongoing efforts to perpetuate and support the island's maritime history and culture."

The 2025 CYCS kicked off two weeks ago in Newport, RI with New York Yacht Club's Tiedemann Regatta. Current series leaders include across the four CRF divisions include Gesture, Abigail, Lively Lady, and Ponyo. Full results can be viewed on the CYOA website.

The Vineyard Cup is part of Sail MV's extensive programming which aims to bolster the island's dynamic relationship with the sea. The organization is committed to promoting, supporting, and actively seeking diversity and inclusivity within the sailing, rowing, boating, and maritime communities of Martha's Vineyard. Diversity and inclusivity are essential to achieving their mission to make on-the-water training, maritime skills, and environmental sustainability knowledge available to all.

Racing in the Vineyard Cup will kick off on Friday and continue through Saturday, July 12. If needed, Sunday, July 13 has been designated as a reserve day. More information on the Vineyard Cup can be found on the SailMV website.
