Ovington 2021 - ILCA 2 - LEADERBOARD

Ovington Boats Big Prize Draw with Micky Beckett during the ILCA UK Open & National Championships

by ILCAUK 17 Aug 2024 07:38 BST 12-17 August 2024

Beautiful weather with 8-10 knots of wind, sunshine, and bay sailing for the ILCA6 gold fleet and ILCA7s, while the ILCA4s and Silver fleet ILCA6s competed in the harbor. More details on the racing will be provided in the final report in the coming days.

Friday, however, was all about Micky Beckett and Ovington Boats. As many of you have seen from the photos, ILCAUK built a sailors and sponsors village called the Hub. Here, Ovington displayed Micky's Olympic boat alongside the boat they donated as a prize for the daily prize draws. This year, we decided to give the boat to a club. They can do whatever they like with it, but it's Ovington's way of supporting the ILCA racing community.

The lucky winners were Ballyholme Yacht Club, who were presented with the boat by Micky. Based in Northern Ireland, BYC recently hosted the very successful 2024 ILCA Youth European Championships.

Ovington Boats' support extends beyond the National Championships. Their continued and generous support throughout the season helps make all the events special. ILCA UK would like to thank Chris Turner and John Mcafee.

ILCA UK would also like to thank Micky for coming - young and not so young were eager to meet this terrific guy and have the odd selfie with him!

The day concluded with a BBQ courtesy of ILCAUK and a set by DJ Fred.
