Bartley Beast 2023/24 - Week 4 Preview - "The Beast Burns Out"

Bartley Beast Week 4 Preview © BSC

This weekend sees the final round of the 2023/24 Bartley Beast. The event so far has attracted entries from 41 double handed boats and 51 single handers with a wide range of classes and abilities, all of which has combined to make for an exciting and eventful winter event leading us all up towards spring.

The racing so far has been tight and as we go into the last day discards will start to come into play and the overall results in both fleets are up for grabs. Duncan Adams in his Phantom is leading the way in the single handed fleet but there are a number of sailors having missed one day that can still challenge Duncan. It is a similar picture in the double handed fleet and although Chris Martin sailing with Josh Oates in a Scorpion were in top spot, as discards come in to play it is a pair of Merlin Rockets leading the way, closely followed by a National 12 and then the Scorpion. With only 4.5 points between them all it will be nail biting for some.

The overall winner of the Bartley Beast alternates between the two fleets yearly, and this year is the turn of the single handed fleet winner, but with prizes on the day and for each fleet and overall there is plenty to look forward to at the prize-giving.

Tilly's Galley will be open for full cooked breakfast from 08:30 and although entry on line is preferred entry can be made on the day up until 10:00. Who will be the Beast of Bartley?
