The Andrew Simpson Foundation and CORE & Co, with the support of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and the Department for Education, are proud to announce the launch of LEAD On!, an innovative community programme designed to equip young people in Birmingham with essential life skills and new career prospects through sailing and watersports.

Launching in February 2025 at the Andrew Simpson Centre on Bartley Green Reservoir, LEAD On! will provide young people with unique opportunities to develop confidence, life skills and gain qualifications, using the power of sailing and watersports to inspire personal growth. By combining the Andrew Simpson Foundation's expertise in transforming lives through sailing with CORE & Co's dedication to social mobility, this collaboration will open doors for young people to explore new pathways in education, training, and employment.

With the backing of the RYA, LEAD On! will introduce participants to the world of watersports, offering hands-on experiences and professional guidance. The programme will not only help young people develop resilience and communication skills but also introduce them to potential career opportunities within the marine and outdoor activity industries.

"We believe that sailing and watersports have the power to change lives," said Caroline Slocock, Head of Philanthropy at the Andrew Simpson Foundation. "Through LEAD On!, we are providing young people in the city of Birmingham, many of whom may never have had access to these opportunities before, the chance to build confidence, gain new qualifications, and explore exciting career prospects."

Paul Hewlett, Chief Operations Officer at CORE & Co added: "At CORE & Co, we are passionate about supporting young people to unlock their potential. This partnership with the Andrew Simpson Foundation and the RYA will create a powerful platform for young people in Birmingham to gain skills, make new connections, and take the next step towards their future."

LEAD On! is open to young people aged 11-16 and will provide a structured pathway from initial engagement through to qualifications and career development.
