Rooster Southern Topper Travellers Series at Stokes Bay Sailing Club

With both Jake Davies (Topper 4.2) and Jake Rawes (Topper 5.3) winning their fleets, it seems like you have to be called Jake to win the Stokes Bay Topper Traveller. In about 10 knots of wind and sunshine, it was important to get the tides right with it changing direction during the racing.

In the 4.2 fleet the racing was very close with fourth to sixth all tied on points and four different race winners, two of which were from Stokes Bay (Samuel Wade and Lucas Keen), one from Warsash (Jake Davies) and the final race win going to Queen Mary sailor Mu En Zhong.

While some 4.2's broke away from the pack, the rest would all be fighting it out, making it feel more like a big championship event.

While the 4.2's had some very close racing the 5.3 fleet was dominated by Jake Rawes, winning every race and discarding a first. He clearly wasn't intimated by the blue warpaint (sunblock) on the Warsash sailors' faces.

Of the twenty 5.3s sailors, five completed their first Topper Traveller, all who seemed to thoroughly enjoy it.

Thanks to our race Officer Derek Clark and his team, the races were turned around really quickly.
