Our dazzling Christmas light-show that adorned more than 25 yachts has raised £3,849 for Charity to date, with a little more still to come in. Our beneficiaries were St Catherine's Hospice, The Rainbow Centre and Scarborough Sea Cadets, with the donations distributed equally between them.
Organised by Scarborough Yacht Club (SYC) & South Bay Traders (SBTA), with Rudi Barman and John Senior, Heath Samples, James Corrigan and Guy Smith taking the lead, and supported by Scarborough Yacht Club's members, people could donate cash through JustGiving.com.
At the same time, SYC organised a Children's Competition to take the best photographs of themselves and the yacht light-show, and it was noticeable how many visitors came up to do just this. There were three prizes for this, and the winners are:
- 1st Prize: £100 won by Alexia Barnes, age 16.
- 2nd Prize: £50 won by Samvith Ram Vignesh age 9.
- 3rd Prize: £25 won by Amy Casson age 15
A big thanks to Jimmy Corrigan's Ltd for donating the prize money for the competition!
Social distancing meant a single group photo was impossible so spaced pictures of the organisers and recipients are shown instead.
We would like to thank Scarborough Yacht Club's members for their enthusiasm in putting out the very successful light-show that made this magical Christmas attraction possible, along with a big thanks to Rudi, John, Heath, James, and Guy for coming up with the project.
