The newly formed Lancaster and Morecambe RC Laser club will be holding a demo day this coming Saturday (22nd) at Glasson Marina.
Anybody who fancies their hand at radio controlled sailing should come along and meet the group, before you know it you'll have a transmitter in your hand and with a helpfull bit of coaching will be joining in some informal sailing and racing. The sport is ideal for any age and is easy to pick up even if you have no previous sailing experience.
The RC Laser is a quarter scale model of the olympic Laser singlehanded dinghy and, like it's full size version, is a strict one-design class which helps to keep the cost under control and means that all boats are identical in performance. Their durable construction also ensures a long, competitive lifespan.
As well as the Glasson regulars, John Tushingham representing the UK RC Laser Class Association will be present along with other northern based skippers. So come on down and explore this rapidly growing sport, you'll be hooked in ten minutes flat.
The boats will be on the water fron 2pm onwards and for any further information contact Mark Fearnley 01524 822501.
