With a forecast predicting rain for most of the day, we were pleasantly surprised to arrive at the lakeside and still not a drop of rain. A westerly breeze and the few remaining large sails were put aside after practice, to join the rest with 'B' rigs, bar one for the first race.

We had a good turnout with 11 Skippers including the Johson clan and Newbie Laser Skipper Paul Fishwick. For the full length of the lake sailing, we had lots of good beating to the top end for the 2 little red Marks, down to the clubhouse and finish between the middle 2 yellows, all taken to Port.

It was very competitive at the sharp end, with 2 multiple National RC Laser champions to lead the battle and to race against.

By lunch we had sailed 7 good races and still remained dry as the big black clouds seemed to circle Fleetwood out to sea and around the Fylde.

14 races in total and some good interaction and challenging bouts throughout the day and now a nice full lake brimming to the top, thanks to our Eric with top up duties, ready for next weekend's bumper IOM Open Ranking event at Fleetwood.

Thanks to Trevor for the scores and Race Officer duties.

Results:

1 Shaun Holbeche 14 pts
2 Tony Wilson 37 pts
3 Derek Priestly 38 pts

Repeat of shifty beats Eight boats on the water for round 8 of the Winter series. It was A rigs again in the bright sun with sunglasses on for the beat, initially into a S wind. The six knots gave all a big test for the start with the starboard end favoured. Posted on 9 Feb
Medway RC Laser Club Winter Series Day 7
Shifty beats for six skippers Six out to compete in round 7 with SSE 6 to 10 knots. This wind provided a great course in front of the car park and café. The rain didn't deter but with the changing clouds overhead the wind direction had us all guessing which side paid up the beats. Posted on 1 Feb
