The port of Barcelona is preparing to host the XI Edition of the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona Regatta, one of the most important nautical events in the whole Mediterranean. Up to now, a month of the event, more than 30 boats have already been registered, a number that confirms the international relevance of this regatta, converted over the years in an obligatory date for sailing lovers within the calendar of classic Mediterranean boats.

The competition, to be held from the 11 to the 14 of July at the Real Club Náutico of Barcelona (RCNB), will feature four of the five winners of the 2017 edition: Alba, Guía, Cippino, Kelpie of Falmouth and Moonbeam III, who have confirmed its presence with the aim of defending its crown in the waters of Barcelona.

Besides, the Regatta will feature emblematic vessels that have been present since its inception, such as the Classic boats the Yanira, the Diana and the Samarkand; the Islander or the Niña Luisita, from the Époque category; or Big Boats like the Moonbeam IV or the Hallowe'en, among others. All of them will sail offering a great staging of pure nautical tradition in this edition of the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona Regatta.

This XI Edition of the Regatta brings together again a large international representation with boats from the United States, Britain, Germany, France, Ireland and Spain. As in previous editions, the centenary ships that make up this floating museum are divided into five categories: Classics boats1 and Classic boats 2 (constructed in wood or metal, launched before December 31, 1949 and classified by their size), Marconi Époque and Cangreja Époque (made in wood or metal, both before 1950 and catalogued by the type of sail) and Big Boats (with lengths of more than 25 meters). At their command there will be about 700 sailors coming from all corners of the world that will make the Regatta a unique spectacle enjoyed by both citizens and tourists visiting Barcelona those days.

The XI Edition of the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona Regatta is an event featured on the Spanish Royal Sailing Federation's (RFEV) official calendar and counts towards Spain's 2018 national championship for Vintage and Classica Yachts as well as the VIII Mare Nostrum Trophy.
