The Classic Yacht Owners Association's annual Classic Yacht Challenge Series (CYCS) kicks off a summer of stunning northeastern sailing with the 2025 Tiedemann Classics Regatta this weekend.

Hosted by New York Yacht Club (NYYC), the Tiedemann Regatta brings together some of the most beautiful yachts on the water, and runs June 28-29 in Newport, RI.

"This summer promises to be another incredible season of camaraderie, competition, and seamanship," said CYOA Chair Timmy Dittrich. "With a beautiful setting, central location, and welcoming hosts at NYYC, the 2025 Tiedemann Regatta is going to be a blockbuster start to the CYCS. Good luck to all competitors!"

"We look forward to bringing together the classic yacht sailors at the beginning of the summer to celebrate the history, the preservation and the participants involved in the community," said Jesse Terry, Tiedemann Regatta organizer. "It's exciting to activate the southern New England classic yacht fleet including the local 12-meters - all with unique history onto themselves."

Returning CYOA member boats from the 2023 Tiedemann Regatta include formidable teams aboard Abigail, American Eagle, Dorade, and Gamecock.

Aboard the yacht Golden-Eye, three generations of the Emmert family, ranging in ages from 12 to 83 years old, are sailing together in the weekend's races. "I cannot think of a better way to kick off the classic sailing season than being out on the water with my family here in Newport," said boat owner Michael Emmert.

Social events for the Tiedemann Regatta include the Regatta Dinner featuring cocktails and revelry under Harbour Court's tent on Saturday, June 28.
