The weather was perfect for the ODSSA Regatta held at Farmoor Reservoir Oxford on September 15th. A total of 58 boats took part in a gently building easterly wind, which was proving to be quite testing by the end of the three race series.
The racing was dominated by the 420’s of Francis Peters and Claire Lasko representing Oxford High School and Sophie Wequelin and Imogen Stanley of Rye St Anthony. They would have had a string of first and seconds but Sophie was over the line in the first race. This allowed Sam Petty of Radley College to move up from his usual third position to claim second place for his Laser Radial, but only for that first race.
In the Under 14 category Hermione Stanley of Rye St Anthony’s sailed her Optimist very consistently to beat Stephen Lloyd of King Alfred’s School, who was also sailing an Optimist.
At the Prizegiving the ODSSA Commodore, Bob Medcalf made a point of saying how well everyone had done, even those taking part in a race for the very first time.
