Open Day at Torpoint Mosquito Sailing Club - Preview

by Brigitte Mann 2 Jul 2015 22:57 BST 11 July 2015

To showcase the club's facilities free water sports tasters on offer for all aged 8 to 80+

On Saturday 11 July 2015 Torpoint Mosquito Sailing Club is opening its doors and inviting people of all ages and abilities to come along look around the club and maybe have a go at one of the many watersports it has on offer including dinghy & yacht sailing, gig rowing and windsurfing.

With doors opening at 12 noon on Saturday 11 July at Marine Drive, Torpoint, PL11 2EH - weather permitting - there will be a whole host of activities taking place during the day including various water sport taster sessions, cadet and scuba diving information points, BBQ and bar, teas and homemade cakes, stalls, face-painting, raffle etc.

In the evening from 8 pm there will be live music from the Dulcet Tones. There is no admission charge and the water sports tasters are free. Weather permitting, the tasters begin at around 1pm and you need to be there by 4pm at the latest to join a session.

Everyone is welcome but all children aged under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult and you will have to be aged 8 or over to take part in a taster. And if you plan to take part in a water sports taster don't forget that you might get wet so bring a change of clothes, a wetsuit if you have one, a towel and soft-soled shoes you don't mind getting wet and muddy.

Steve Creek, Commodore, said "As well as a bar, an active social scene and an onsite restaurant, Torpoint Mosquito already has sailing, windsurfing and scuba diving sections, storage facilities for kayaks and a thriving cadet section for young sailors. Our Open Day lets anyone find out how much fun water sports can be, whether you are sailing, windsurfing, rowing or diving - and just how easy it is to get involved through Torpoint Mosquito."

Open Day is not the only event this year when people can come along to the Club and see what it has to offer. Over the weekend of 28 & 29 August we are holding a charity weekend with fun sailing races, live music etc in aid of St Luke's Hospice and look out for our craft fair nearer to Christmas.
