The first round of the Laser South Coast Grand Prix series get underway at Spinnaker Club on the 21st April 2013. Spinnaker offers great sailing for newbies and experts alike. Some close tactical sailing with challenging wind shifts for the experts and if you've never tried a Laser open before this weekend is the perfect opportunity to have a go in a safe environment, with great spectator viewing for your family. For us mere mortals it's a great shake down with some good friendly racing through-out the fleet.

The Laser South Coast Grand Prix is a series of Laser open meetings across the south of England, from as far East as Lancing Sailing Club to Sutton Bingham Sailing Club near Yeovil in the West. Each venue has its own challenges with sea clubs offering tides and waves to clubs on estuaries and reservoirs with their interesting courses and shifty winds.

The events are open to the 4.7, Radial and Standard rigs. All levels of ability, and any age, young or old are welcome. Competitors need to be members of the UKLA and their boat must conform to the class rules.

The series is sponsored by Rooster Sailing and Wildwind Sailing Holidays. To qualify for the end of series prizes and a chance of winning a Wildwind sailing holiday, you just need to compete in at least 6 grand prix events this year.

The series results will be available on the Rooster Sailing website. Series prizes supplied by Rooster Sailing to be presented at Chichester Yacht Club. Wildwind sailing holiday to be drawn at the Inlands from all the qualifiers.

Last year's prize list included a Rooster Coastal Jacket, a Rooster Semi Dry Top and a Rooster Carbon Tiller. Every qualifier will receive a prize.

Look forward to seeing on the water.
