Combined vintage Merlin and CVRDA open at Hunts this weekend

This Saturday sees the third running of the Hunts SC combined vintage Merlin and CVRDA open meeting and if it's anything like the first two meetings, it's bound to be a great success! Racing is always fun and friendly yet also with that competitive edge. This year sees a special prize for the first Holt boat, and 'guest' classes low rider moths and classic single floor woodie phantoms have been invited to come and join the fun.

At 89 Tiercel proved that old boats can still compete and win Vintage and Classic Int 14's came to Rickmansworth Sailing Club over the weekend of 17th/18th May to race for two trophies. Andy Harris and Lyra Wade take Sondown Cup and Elizabeth Bowl Sunday May 18th was the Thames Series Merlin Rocket Open sponsored by Craftinsure for all ages of boat competing for the Sondown Cup (for the overall result) and the Elizabeth Bowl (for the first vintage boat in the last race). An unusual concern for the race team was the juvenile grey seal hogging the ramp A beautiful day, Saturday 17th May, met the eight entrants for the Merlin Rocket Vintage Series open sponsored by Craftinsure at Tamesis, battling for the Southcott and Porteous Cups (Southcott for the overall, Porteous for the winner of the last race). Hitting a mark is one thing, setting up camp on it is something else altogether After a testing, not to say bruising opening day for the Lowrider Moths at Stone Sailing Club the concerns were that Day 2 would be the same but colder.
