No wind, no practice race

The lack of wind kept the athletes today inside the harbor and the practice race was not sailed. The sailors though had a nice time getting to know each other and enjoy themselves at the facilities of the Yacht Club.

After a long time of waiting for the wind to blow steadily the Race Committee decided to abandon the practice race and send the sailors back to the hotel to rest and get ready for today's Opening Ceremony.

The ceremony took place at the luxurious Taj Connemara Hotel, where the President of India Yachting Association had the chance to thank the regatta sponsors and give a warm welcome all the sailors. The main sponsors of the India International Regatta support sailing in the grassroots and promote its environmentally friendly aspects

A tasteful dinner of Indian cuisine followed right after and every one had the chance to get a taste of the local food and its spicy flavors.

Tomorrow more wind and better sailing conditions are forecasted. Stay tuned for the opening races of the 2011 India International Regatta!
