2-9 October 2001
The India International Regatta starts on Monday 3rd of October with more than 100 young sailors competing in two racing classes.
Optimist and 29er sailors from Ireland, Malaysia, Qatar, Sri Lanka,
Slovenia, Czech Republic, Myanmar, Indonesia and of course India are
getting ready for the monsoon conditions that are expected to give exciting,
but demanding as well, races at the Bengal Bay for the third year in a row.
The India International Regatta started on 2009 for the first time and
since then is growing rapidly. Not only in number of participants, but also in
foreign countries competing.
After Monday’s practice race, five racing days will follow until Saturday
were the closing ceremony of India International Regatta will take place. The
hot weather and the breezy conditions are the key points of this regattas’
success. Also the exotic sites of India and the busy town of Chennai offer their
guests a unique experience.
