Sengers overhauls Hollis to secure series success
Starting his campaign at race 4, Bram Sengers of Southampton University was at an early disadvantage in Southampton Water Sailing Association’s inaugural evening series for sailing dinghies. With 4 discards allowed, Sengers was under pressure but never the less secured 4 firsts and a second in his RS Vision, sufficient to take the series by 5 points.
In second place, Chris Hollis of Southampton Sailing Club sailing a Wayfarer scored consistently with three 2nd places. However, due to work commitments Chris had to leave the field of battle after race 6, handing the baton to his crew Alex Lowry. Alex, just 15 years old and more used to the sharp end of the boat, stepped up to the plate admirably and scored a 4th and 2nd, sufficient to secure 2nd place overall on the podium.
Despite leading the series at the half way point, William Waddington in his GP14 General Panic was unlucky to slip to third in the latter part of the series.
SWSA racing is open to members of the 16 SWSA member clubs and to individual members of the RYA.
