Topper Southern Travellers at Hayling Island Sailing Club

by Gerald New 13 May 2002 10:14 BST

Forty-two Toppers took part in the Southern Travellers Open Meeting at Hayling Island SC over the weekend. Victory went to Steve Jackson of Hardway SC in a nail bitingly close series with only one point covering the first four places overall and the event depending on the final race.

Jonathan White from Pevensey Bay SC took the first race ahead of Jackson with Stuart Adams of Burghfield SC third. The second race was Jacksons ahead of another very consistent competitor, Alain Sign from Stokes Bay SC. The final race went to Adams with Sign taking second place again and White in third to just miss overall victory - the one, two of Jackson allowing him to discard his final sixth place and take the overall win.
