Another day of light winds and blue skies brought successes to Australia's top boats in the Bay of Quiberon.

In Race 3, John Winning's 'Yandoo' made a conservative start, and an excellent beat up the middle of the track saw him in the lead again at the windward mark, ahead of Tim Penfold on 'Marlow' who had missed the two opening races due to commitments at home. 'Yandoo' held the lead to the finish, and Howie Hamlin on 'US Challenge' again sailed well to take second place. Trevor Barnabas on 'Omega Smeg' was third.

Race 2 saw 'Omega Smeg' start well near the middle of the line, and then get the tactics right to round the windward mark in first position. Flemming Clausen on 'Wempe' maintained second place round most of the course, but was overtaken by Rob Greenhalgh on 'RMW Marine' at the final leeward mark, and then by 'Sunday Telegraph', sailed by Graham Eeles, on the short beat to the finish. The ever-consistent John Winning finished fifth.

In the light conditions prevailing in the four races sailed so far, the boats have been remarkably equal in boat speed, and those at the head of the fleet have been there entirely as a consequence of good sailing and sound tactics. With six more races in the series, there is still plenty to sail for, and it will be particularly interesting if we see a change of conditions to stronger breezes.
