by Vilamoura Sailing / Prow Group 29 Sep 19:53 BST 26 September - 2 October 2026

Brazilian sailors Francisco Dal Ri and Erik Scheidt hold the top two positions after the third day of racing at the 2026 ILCA 6 Men's World Championship in Vilamoura, with two more races completed today.

Dal Ri leads the 60-boat international fleet with 9 net points after six races, one point ahead of Scheidt. Croatia's Toma Smircic remains in third place with 20 points.

Vilamoura continued to deliver consistent racing conditions on day three, allowing the championship to remain fully on schedule, with all six races planned for the opening three days completed.

The fleet faced steady southeasterly conditions today. Light rain marked the morning before the wind settled at approximately 130 degrees. Race five was sailed in 12 to 13 knots, with the breeze easing slightly to around 11 to 12 knots for race six.

Scheidt recorded two race wins during the day, strengthening his position in the overall standings. Dal Ri added a third and a second to maintain the championship lead.

Smircic continued his consistent run near the front of the fleet. After a 13th place in the opening race of the championship, the Croatian recorded four consecutive top-two finishes before discarding a 14th in Race 6. With the discard in effect, he sits 10 points behind Scheidt.

Spain's Alberto Medel Castrillón is fourth overall with 21 net points, followed by Italy's Lorenzo Ghirotti in fifth with 34. Ireland's Conor Cronin holds sixth place with 44 points, while Portugal's Kuzey Karis is seventh with 48. Croatian sailors Bepo Duplancic and Roko Tomsic occupy eighth and ninth respectively, with Brazil's Felipe Strassburger completing the top ten.

The championship continues in Vilamoura and concludes on 2 October.
