ILCA 6 Men's World Championship at Vilamoura, Portugal - Day 2

Just four points separate the top four at the 2026 ILCA 6 Men's World Championship after the second day of racing in Vilamoura, with four sailors aged 16 and 17 setting the early pace after four races.
Two races were completed on Monday in sunny conditions, with a southeasterly wind from approximately 140 degrees averaging 10 to 12 knots and a sea state of around 0.5 metres.
Brazil's Francisco Dal Ri, moved into the overall lead after winning both races on day two. He now holds four net points, one ahead of Croatia's Toma Smircic, who finished second in both races. Brazil's Erik Scheidt, sits third on eight points, level with Spain's Alberto Medel Castrillón, in fourth.
Dal Ri produced the strongest performance of day two, adding two victories to the second place he recorded in the opening race of the championship. With the first discard now in effect, his fifth-place finish is removed from his net score. Smircic has also maintained a consistent presence at the front, with his discarded 13th place his only result outside the top two.
Spain's Alberto Medel Castrillón remains firmly in the leading group after adding a a third place on day two. His 29th-place finish is currently discarded, leaving him level on eight net points with Scheidt and four points behind the overall leader.
Behind the leading four, Croatia's Bepo Duplancic is fifth with 16 points. Ireland's Conor Cronin follows in sixth on 20, ahead of Italy's Lorenzo Ghirotti on 22 and Croatia's Roko Tomsic on 25. Portugal's Kuzey Karis is ninth overall with 26 points, while Hong Kong's Charalampos Veliantis completes the top 10 on 29.
With only four points separating the top four, the championship remains closely contested as racing continues in Vilamoura. The 2026 ILCA 6 Men's World Championship concludes on 2 October.
