Musto has unveiled a new Full-Zip EVO Windproof Knit alongside the return of Musto Country, bringing together the comfort and timeless style of traditional knitwear with advanced windproof technology. Designed for life on the coast, in the countryside and on the water, the new EVO Windproof Knit combines classic knitted comfort with advanced windproof protection. Constructed from a 30% Merino wool and 70% cotton blend, it features a two-layer windproof lining, breathable mesh underarm panels and a full-length front zip, delivering warmth, comfort and versatility in unpredictable conditions.
The new windproof garment was put through its paces by professional kitesurfer and Musto Ambassador, Tom Court, inside the University of Southampton's wind tunnel with wind speeds cranked up to 30 knots.
"I spend a lot of time out in the wild, testing myself against nature in strong wind environments and I very rarely get to come and do something like this," said Court. "A brand like Musto really pushes themselves to test their kit to the full extent of what is possible. Just like being out in a storm...
"The first thing I noticed about the jumper is it is so smooth, just like a normal knitted jumper except it's highly technical. It has got three layers of material that stop the wind completely from entering the knit. Normally, if you're wearing a knitted jumper the wind goes straight through but not with this one, it is completely windproof because of the material Musto has used. This is how you properly test windproof clothing!"
Court wore a heat sensitive T-shirt under the windproof knit that remains white if the body is warm and turns blue if the body is cold - it only turned blue when Tom unzipped the new Full-Zip EVO Windproof Knit!
Musto's Head of Design, Shane Rhone led the design team from start to finish in the production of the full-zip garment: "From bracing pursuits along the rugged coast to crisp mornings in the rolling countryside, the British weather has a mind of its own," said Rhone.
"Traditional knitwear looks great, but when the wind picks up it often falls short. Our Windproof Knit changes that. It combines the comfort and timeless style of a knitted layer with a fully windproof lining that blocks out the biting winds without compromising on breathability. It's comfortable for everyday wear yet engineered to perform in the great outdoors.
"This season we introduce the full-length front zip style, this version acts almost like a lightweight jacket, offering the ultimate versatility for unpredictable days. Wear zipped up against a bracing coastal headwind, or wear it open the moment the sun breaks through the clouds. It's the ultimate grab-and-go layer for life in the open air."
Few people understand the impact of wind better than Tom Court who constantly seeks out the strongest winds on the UK's south coast: "The EVO Windproof Knit has become my go-to layer after long sessions on the water and keeps me warm even on the windiest days. It's easily become my favourite knit. No problems chasing storms in this knitted jumper."
The new Full-Zip EVO Windproof Knit is part of Musto's enhanced EVO Autumn/Winter 2026 collection, a versatile range engineered to perform across both coastal and country environments. For more than 60 years, Musto has engineered products that thrive in challenging environments. The EVO Windproof Knit builds on that heritage, bringing together technical performance, comfort and versatility for today's outdoor lifestyle.
"Today's customers don't separate coastal and country lifestyles in the way they once did. They want technical clothing that performs wherever the day takes them. The EVO collection, led by products such as the Windproof Knit, delivers the protection, comfort and versatility needed whether you're on the shoreline, on the water or in the countryside." said Musto Marketing Director, Nick Houchin.
This new EVO series features body-mapped design and advanced insulation to regulate body temperature as conditions, and your activity level, change. The new EVO Windproof Knit will be available at Musto stockists and online this autumn.
