The Offshore Racing Congress is pleased to share the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda's announcement that the historic Settimana delle Bocche will return to the Club's sporting calendar in 2027. The event will take place from 26 April to 1 May as part of the YCCS's 60th anniversary celebrations.

ORC is delighted to join the international sailing community in celebrating this significant milestone for the YCCS through the return of a historic regatta that played an important role in establishing the Club's international sporting tradition. Racing under the ORC rating system, the Settimana delle Bocche will bring one of the Mediterranean's most storied sailing events back to the waters of the Costa Smeralda and the La Maddalena Archipelago.

First held in 1972, the Settimana delle Bocche was the inaugural international competition organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and marked the beginning of the Club's international sailing activities. Inspired by Cowes Week, the event was conceived as a week of racing in Sardinia, bringing together some of the Mediterranean's most iconic yachts in Porto Cervo.

The starting line for the inaugural edition featured many of the era's leading sailing figures, including Giorgio Falck on Guia, Admiral Agostino Straulino on Kerkyra, Gian Marco Moratti and Nicolò Donà dalle Rose on Viva, Serena Zaffagni on Mabelle, Commendatore Italo Monzino on Mait II, and American Bill Ficker at the helm of Charisma, one of the most competitive yachts in the international fleet at the time.

"The Settimana delle Bocche holds a special place in the Club's history. In 1972, it was the first international competition organised by the YCCS and marked the beginning of a journey that has led, over the decades, to the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda becoming one of the leading institutions in international sailing. Bringing it back today is a way of honouring that history, showcasing our sporting heritage, and offering owners, sailors and enthusiasts an event that looks to the future," commented YCCS Commodore Andrea Recordati.

The 2027 edition will feature windward-leeward races and a long coastal race on the renowned courses of the Costa Smeralda and the La Maddalena Archipelago.

Boats meeting the eligibility criteria set out in the Preliminary Notice of Race will be able to participate under the ORC rating system. The Preliminary Notice of Race will be published on the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda website in October.

The return of the Settimana delle Bocche comes in a particularly significant year for the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda. Sixty years after its founding, the Club will celebrate its sporting heritage while continuing the tradition that has established Porto Cervo as one of the world's leading yacht-racing venues.

Owners, teams and sailors are invited to save the dates:
