GL52 Ugotta Regatta 2026 - Day 4

by Caroline Rochford 28 Jul 14:04 BST July 24-26, 2026

"It is easy to kill someone with a slash of a sword. It is hard to be impossible for others to cut down." ~ Yagyu Munenori

Though it was hotly contested until the very end, Katana retained their lead and emerged victorious, winning their second regatta of the summer.

Wizard saw a return to form and crossed the finish line first, though Windquest corrected in front by a mere 11 seconds. Windquest's success in the Tour of the Bay races brought them close but they couldn't quite overtake Wizard for second place, ultimately coming away with the bronze spot. Only three points separated first from third, showing just how competitive the fleet really is.

In their final event as part of the 2026 GL52 Series, Heartbreaker finished just off the podium in fourth place. Behind them sat Hooligan who will be joining us again in a few short days for our final event of the season.

Mockingbird sailed extremely well throughout the event and fought back after missing the first day of buoy racing. They finished in 6. Despite their cool persona, Fjord brought the heat on the race course. They finished the event in 7 but are already planning their attack strategy for the final event.

We would also like to shout out and celebrate Natalie J. It was so great to have them on the course for the Tour of the Bay races. And finally we would like to recognize Nimbus for their contribution to the fleet. We are so saddened that their breakdown made them unable to finish the event and hope they will be racing with us again soon!

Thank you to LTYC for putting on such a great event and delivering truly ideal conditions!

Teams are enjoying a (very) short break before they join us back in Harbor Springs for Little Traverse Cup, our final event of the 2026 Summer Season.
