With just a couple of days to go, the excitement is building in anticipation of the Nacra 15 World Championship 2026, jointly hosted in Plymouth by the Plym Yacht Club and Hooe Point Sailing Club. 60 teams from 11 nations will be battling out on the water to be crowned this year's Champions!
Whilst last year's World Champions aren't in attendance, we do have the reigning European Champions competing: keep an eye on in Alessandro Vargiu & Noa Lisci ITA 393. Also racing as part of the strong Italian team are Mattia Di Martino & Nina Cittar ITA 228 (2nd overall at 2025 Euros) and Tommaso Geiger & Anna Bianca Gasparini ITA 245 (3rd under 17 2025 Euros).
Team France has many sailors capable of a podium result including Francois-David Petit-Nino and Noe Guevel FRA 356 who where victorious at this year's French Youth Catamaran Nationals. Returning for another crack at the top spot are the USA's Dylan Tomko and Casey Small USA 346 who where 2nd Under 17s at the 2025 Worlds.
After an impressive performance at the recent Hague Super Series event we'll be closely watching the Hungarian team and in particular Betti Bartos & Koppany Ormai HUN 360 who won in the Hague.
After many training events in Plymouth the GBR team will be hoping for some good results. Ones to watch include current National Champion Marcus King sailing with Maddie Jinks on GBR 378, 2025 National Champions Patrick Hill and Jess Patterson GBR 070 and local sailors Will Boalch and Eliza Pritchard GBR 334. If conditions are light keep an eye out for youngsters James Oakley and Conor Fray on GBR 074 who are often seen flying along whilst older and heavier sailors are hardly moving!
