The 2026 ILCA 4 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy came to a close today in Los Alcázares, Mar Menor, Spain, following an outstanding week of racing defined by excellent organisation and consistently favourable sailing conditions.

On the final day, sailors were greeted with a light but steady breeze of 7 to 10 knots, allowing the race committee to complete the final two races as scheduled. With this, all 12 races planned for the championship were successfully sailed, providing a fair and comprehensive series for all competitors.

As expected, the final day delivered high intensity across all fleets, with multiple changes in the top positions in both the boys’ and girls’ fleets, as well as in the Under-16 categories. The consistency and resilience of the sailors were put to the test until the very last race, with the overall standings remaining open and competitive throughout the day.
