With storms heading South East towards Kent for the second Spring series event 12 still entered and 13 races were run in a pleasant but shifty 5 knots, building to 15 by 1pm.

Peter Jackson continued where he left off by winning race 1, now with Chairman Alan Hounsell up to speed in 2nd, ahead of Adrian Tomlinson. Peter also led race 2, but Alan got water at the leeward mark and the two touched, marking the end of Peters run of wins. Colin Honour won from Peter with Dave Adams getting in gear for 3rd.

The old Broadstairs firm of Dave and Adrian now assumed their normal positions slugging it out at the head of the fleet. Dave posted 1,2,1,4 to Adrian's 2,1,2,1 with Alan mostly 3rd. Rob Owens showed speed and took 3rd in race 4, then a 2nd in race 6 before fading back. Adrian posted 3 wins in a row over lunch, during which the wind died away then quickly built to the top of A rig conditions precursing the nearing weather front. Tacking became tricky but nobody changed to B rigs.

Dave liked the stronger winds, posting 2,1,1,2 after lunch with 2nd places going to Adrian, Peter and Alan. 3rd places were spread between Colin Honour, Simon Thornton, Adrian, and the ever improving Ed Coxon putting in a guest appearance on the podium after a tangle with Alan in race 9. Alan recovered with a 2nd in race 12, and Colin posted two 3rds in the last 3 races to stretch a lead over Simon Thornton. Simon had led on occasion but ceded wins on the last leg, including to Dave in race 10 with a bad tack a few feet from the finish.

Dave's comeback included winning the last race, but all too late to catch Adrian, who finished 2,1,2 plus average points for an RO duty for 16.4 points to Dave's 20. The hot race for 3rd between Peter and Alan was settled by just half a point by Peters eventual 2nd win and a 4th against Alan's 2,5, in the last 2 races. Colin's two 3rds left him only another 4 points adrift.

In mid fleet the duel between Medway pair Andrew Nichols and Spencer Pope was being just edged by Andrew until he had to leave early, leaving Spencer just behind Ed in 8th. Adrian and Dave each won 5 races, the others going to Peter (2) and Colin, but Adrian had 6 2nds to Dave's 4, discarding his two 3rds. Adrian & Peter now jointly lead the 12 event series.
