2026 29er EuroCup 4 at Yacht Club de Mauguio Carnon - Day 1

by 29er Class 3 Apr 00:04 BST 1-5 April 2026

The fourth stage of the 2026 29er Eurocup officially got under way today in Carnon, delivering a challenging opening day defined by shifty breeze and building wind conditions, reaching 20-25 knots by the afternoon.

A total of 130 teams took to the water, split into four fleets — Yellow, Blue, Red and Purple — confirming once again the strength and depth of the international 29er circuit.

With racing starting at 14:00, the Yellow and Blue fleets completed four races on their course, while the Red and Purple fleets, racing on a separate area, secured three races.

After Day 1, the leaderboard shows a clear French dominance, with the top five teams all representing France.

At the top, Rossignol / Dolibeau lead the standings, followed by Mostini / Bunel in second and Moreau / Guillemot in third.

Category leaders after Day 1:

  • Female: Papin / Jouan
  • Mixed: Salvatore / Rizzi
  • U17 Male: Kiu / Polson
  • U17 Female: Kutz / Hillel
  • U17 Mixed: Dayot / Cabon
  • Top Over 18: Frobenius / Petersen

Tomorrow will see an early start, with the Red and Purple fleets heading out first at 10:00. A fleet reassignment will follow before racing continues.

While racing is already delivering high-level action, Saturday will bring an extra layer of energy to the event, with a full program of side activities open to sailors and visitors.

Highlights include a Clean Walk (10:00-12:00) organised by Océan Protection France, a PumpFoil Contest with Piouz, and the Funny Race (17:00-19:00) in the avant port.

The day will conclude with the Sailors' Party (19:00-22:00), offering a chance for athletes to connect off the water.

From 9:00 to 18:00, the event village will also be active with:

  • Ailerons stand, focused on marine biodiversity awareness
  • L'Ezprit Réquipe, dedicated to repair and upcycling of sports equipment
  • Océan Protection France, with workshops and environmental initiatives
A solid and promising start to Stage 4 — with an exciting weekend ahead, both on and off the water.
