A high over the Tasman is maintaining generally easterly airstream over much of the coastal waters. A tropical low over Coral Sea is deepening and heading south towards the northern Tasman, bringing fresh southeasterly winds along the north coast and large powerful waves midweek, before tracking into the southern Tasman Sea later in the week.

A strong cold front looks set to sweep the coastal waters on Thursday through Friday, with fresh to strong south to southwesterly winds in its wake.
